Brief:
To build light air rudder wing foils using Mackay’s proven manufacturing process from the Moth class. Unlike traditional builds, the carbon components are fully moulded in one piece. This provides the highest level of accuracy and repeatability, and significantly reduces the fairing and finishing work required.
Capabilities Used:
-
In-house paint team: Painted and finished.
-
Material: Titanium, carbon, paint
-
Production team: CNC, laminating and fairing of surfaces with no tolerance for deviation
- Construction Process:
- A titanium fuselage with an integrated CNC-machined bulb offers strength and hydrodynamic stability.
- A 0.8 mm titanium trailing edge is built directly into the carbon to maintain a strong, sharp edge.
- Carbon tips are laminated to the titanium, before being faired and finished by Mackay’s specialist paint team.
